Why we recommend it

Letting a printed arm pivot directly on a servo shaft or a plastic hole is the most common source of play and sag. A 608 bearing, pressed into a printed boss, carries the joint load and leaves the motor to do nothing but turn — and because it is the standard 8mm-bore size, many open-source arm and turntable designs are drawn around it. They are especially worth fitting to the base rotation and shoulder, which see the largest side loads. Print the bearing seat slightly undersize and test-fit, since a press fit that is too tight cracks the part.
