Why we recommend it

The MG996R is the default servo for hobby robotic arms, and a six-pack is exactly what a 6-DOF arm needs. Metal gears handle the side loads a moving arm puts on each joint far better than the plastic gears in micro servos, and ~10 kg·cm of torque is enough for the shoulder and elbow on a desktop-scale arm. Buying a matched set keeps response and centering consistent across joints, which matters a lot once you start running coordinated motion. Pair them with a PCA9685 driver and a separate 5–6V supply for clean, repeatable movement.
