Why we recommend it

PLA is stiff and easy to print, but it creeps under sustained load and softens in a warm room — a problem for a servo mount that holds a loaded arm all day or a printed gear that meshes thousands of times. PETG is the usual step up: it is tougher and more impact-resistant, tolerates heat better, and flexes slightly instead of cracking, which suits gripper linkages and joint brackets. It prints hotter than PLA and strings more easily, so dial in retraction first. Many builders print the rigid structural links in PLA and the parts that see impact or fatigue in PETG.
