Most robot parts fit on a standard bed, but a large arm's base, turntable or long links don't — and splitting them adds joints that flex. The Neptune 4 Plus offers a 320 × 320 × 385 mm build volume with auto-levelling, a direct-drive extruder and a 300 °C nozzle, which widens the range of engineering filaments you can print. Choose it if you're designing a bigger arm; for desktop arms a standard-size printer is enough.

How to build a 3D printed robotic arm — choosing a design, the best servos and bearings, print settings for strong parts, and assembling a precise 6-axis manipulator.
Builds by platformThe best free robotic arm STL files to download — where to find them, which open-source designs are worth printing, what to check before slicing, and the filament to use.
The conceptsHow to design a robotic arm from scratch — sizing link lengths and reach, placing joints, distributing torque, choosing materials, and the CAD tools to draw it in.
